Corning Glass Inc. and the Corning Glass Museum

I do not think I would be able to move on much further with this site without at least mentioning Corning Glass over in Corning, N.Y. Much of what they make can be found in the devices we use everyday. This includes of course, Corning Gorilla Glass which is found on mobile phones (i.e. the Apple iPhone) and also on some higher-end computer monitors. Corning is also well known for being the inventors of Pyrex Glass over 100 years ago! What makes Corning extra unique is not only the strong role they play in the Central New York manufacturing scene but also the fact they have one of the largest and most comprehensive museums for glass in the world! 

The Corning Museum of Glass is a museum in its hometown of Corning, New York dedicated to the art, history and science of glass. It was founded in 1951 by Corning Glass Works and currently has a collection of more than 45,000 glass objects, some over 3,500 years old! With nearly 500,000 visitors each year partaking in glass making exhibits and other fun activities, the museum also boasts its own  research wing; the Rakow Research Library

I Love NY - Official New York State Travel App

I am hoping to rejuvenate this blog in the near-term. I am not sure if it will stay here on Blogger or move somewhere else. Regardless, much has changed in the past few years in terms of finding great resources to learn more about New York State and the even greater items that are made in NYS! One in particular is the I Love NY - Official New York State Travel App put out by New York State Office of Information Technology Services. From their website it is described as :

This is a great way to find excellent museums which are also often manufacturing sites for well known products that are shipped around the world and used in everyday applications. A great example of that would be Corning Glass over in Corning, N.Y.
